Add your church's calendar to your phone

Instead of checking the website for what's on, you can have your church's events appear in the calendar you already use. It takes a couple of minutes, once, and after that new and changed events show up by themselves.

Before you start: Your church's calendar link. Churches share it on their website, in an email or a text; it starts with https://aligned.church/api/ical/.
  1. 1Press and hold your church's calendar link, then tap CopyCopy it rather than tapping it. Tapping only saves a one-time copy of today's events, and that copy never updates.
  2. 2On an iPhone, choose Add Subscribed Calendar in your Calendar settingsOpen Settings, then Calendar (on newer iPhones, Apps first), then its accounts. Tap Add Account, Other, then Add Subscribed Calendar. Paste the link under Server, tap Next, then Save.
  3. 3For Google Calendar, use From URL on a computerGoogle's phone app can't subscribe to a link. On a computer, open Google Calendar, press + next to Other calendars, choose From URL, paste the link and press Add calendar. It shows on your phone from then on.
  4. 4In Outlook, choose Subscribe from webUnder Add calendar, choose Subscribe from web, paste the link, give it a name like your church's, and import it.
  5. 5Give your calendar a little time to fill inYour calendar app checks the link on its own schedule, and Google can take a few hours. After that, events your church adds, moves or cancels change in your calendar by themselves.

Good to know

  • The calendar holds the events your church marks as public, so staff meetings and other internal events won't appear in it.
  • Events that have a sign-up have their own page too, where you can register — your church may share that link instead.

If it’s not working

I tapped the link and my calendar never changes

Tapping the link saves a one-time copy that doesn't update. Delete those events, then subscribe with the copied link as in the steps above.

A repeating event shows an hour early or late

Around when the clocks change, a repeating event can show an hour off in subscribed calendars for part of the year. Check the time on your church's website, or ask your church.

A monthly event is missing or on the wrong week

A monthly event set on the 29th or 30th can skip February, and an evening monthly event can land a week early in some months. Your church's website shows the right date.

An event I know about isn't in my calendar

The calendar only includes events your church made public, and a one-time event drops off about a week after it happens. If something's missing, ask your church.
