Fix a website build that won't start or save
A red message where “All changes saved” should be, or a build that stops before it starts, can feel like lost work. It almost never is. Your answers are kept, and the message says exactly what Retry will change before you press it.

Good to know
- When a build won't start, the message sits in the chat under your answers, with its own Retry. Your answers are saved first, so nothing you answered is lost.
- Reloading the page doesn't fix a refused save: your browser keeps the draft safe and brings it straight back. Retry is the fix.
- Every edit the AI makes leaves a checkpoint in Version history, so there's always a version that saved to come back to.
- On a narrow window the save note shrinks to a red dot at the right end of the address bar. Its message is under Retry save in the ··· menu, and clicking the dot retries the save too.
If it’s not working
It says “Your website draft didn't save, so the build hasn't started.”
Your answers are saved. Press Retry on that message: it saves the draft again and then starts the build.
It says the draft was refused for fields “the site can't store”
Press Retry. It shortens or removes only the fields it names and keeps everything else. If it says there's more to repair than fits in one pass, press Retry again until it's done.
It says Retry can't repair this one field at a time
If your site has saved before, restore an earlier version from Version history in the ··· menu. On a brand-new site, Start over from your answers builds a fresh draft from your saved answers. It asks first, with Replace the draft or Keep the draft, because anything added by hand, by import or in chat is replaced. Still stuck? Message us from Help on the left rail.
It says “Your latest answers were saved while this was building.”
You changed an answer mid-build. Press Build my website once more and it builds from your latest answers.
It says “We couldn't write visitor-ready copy for any page this time.”
Nothing on your site was changed. Press Retry to build it again.
