Refund a gift
A gift given twice, or an extra zero typed by mistake: it happens, and fixing it shouldn't wait until Monday. You can send all or part of an online gift back from the gift itself, and Aligned shows you exactly what will happen before any money moves.

Good to know
- A refund comes off the month the original gift settled in (in your reports, statements and accounting file), not the month you refunded it. That's why a closed month can change.
- You can ask the Giving chat too, like “Refund James Okafor's gift”. It shows you the exact refund first and sends it only when you tap to confirm.
If it’s not working
The gift has no Refund section
Only gifts paid online can be refunded here, and only once they've gone through. Pending, failed and already fully refunded gifts have none, and neither do cash, checks or giving history brought in from another platform.
It won't take the amount I typed
You typed more than can still go back. The line under the box shows the most you can refund; a gift that was partly refunded already has less left.
It says the change conflicts with the current state
Another refund on this gift may still be finishing. Refresh the page and check the gift's status before trying again, so it isn't refunded twice.
