Stop texts or emails from your church

Getting more messages than you'd like? You can stop your church's texts or emails yourself, any time, and it only affects that one church. If you change your mind later, starting again is just as quick.

  1. 1To stop texts, reply STOP to any text from your churchThat stops every text from your church's number — news, reminders and text-giving replies alike. Your phone company sends a short confirmation. No one at your church can turn your texts back on.
  2. 2To get texts again, reply START from the same phoneYou'll get “You're subscribed to … again. Reply STOP to opt out.” Only you can restart them this way.
  3. 3To stop emails, tap Unsubscribe from these emails at the bottom of an email from your churchIt's in the small print under “You're receiving this because you're part of …”. A page opens asking “Unsubscribe from …?”
  6. 6Changed your mind? Reply to any email from your church and ask to be added backThere's no resubscribe button, so your church does it for you.

Good to know

  • Reply HELP to your church's number to see how to stop texts. Message and data rates may apply, as with any text.
  • Your church's texts don't go out overnight, so a quiet evening doesn't mean something's wrong.
  • Want fewer messages rather than none? Ask your church which lists or groups you're on — they may be able to take you off just one.

If it’s not working

I replied STOP by mistake

Reply START from the same phone. You'll get a text saying you're subscribed again.

I'm not getting my church's texts anymore

You may have replied STOP at some point, which only you can undo. Reply START to your church's number. If that doesn't help, check with your church that they have your current mobile number.

The unsubscribe page says “This link isn't valid”

The link has expired or was cut off. Reply to the email and ask to be removed — your church can take you off their list.

It says “Something went wrong — please try again.”

You weren't unsubscribed yet. Tap Unsubscribe again. If it keeps happening, reply to the email and ask to be removed.

I unsubscribed, but I still got an email

Emails about you personally — gift receipts, sign-up confirmations, documents to sign or a serving request — still come after you unsubscribe. If you'd like those to stop too, ask your church.
